Norazog Emberforge was born in Grimgolir to unknown parents. He was given up to the temple of Moradin the All-Father as a child, where he studied the ways of the smith and the warrior, becoming a cleric of the forge. He learned under the smithing master Disanz Smeltmaster (lawful neutral dwarf fighter), his mentor and tutor during his apprenticeship. He discovered a particular talent for armor crafting – as his journeyman smith exam he crafted his set of chain mail.
Norazog first learned the ways of healing and medicine from a traveling monk Ander Tallfellow (lawful good halfling cleric), who stayed at the temple for a time during his pilgrimage. He remembers his confident kindness in particular.
He ran afoul of an adventurer – Ahlyssa Pres (neutral evil human sorcerer) – while still learning to sense magic, (still hasn't quite got the hang of it) Norazog saw a glimpse of the sorcerous patron of Ahlyssa. Recognizing it as an evil spirit, he started a confrontation and was soundly defeated. He remembers her magics, and distrusts sorcery, believing it to all come from nefarious creatures or eldritch horrors.
Norazog left the temple to travel and learn more about the craft of other races. While firmly believing that Dwarven craftsmanship is superior, he is not blinded by hubris, believing that there may be portions of other races' craft that can be applied to his own.
