History: She was born to loving parents in a slum to the north. Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Halflings in Merla's homeland. Merla decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Personality: Cloak wants to be seen as a stoic, levelheaded, noble Ranger, so she tries to act the part. She does a good job, for the most part... The war was a terrible time for her, and Cloak does not often speak of it. When she does, she does so with a strained expression and tears in her eyes.
